Management of components

Participation space's components can be managed from the dashboard's "Components" -section. New components can be added from the "Add component" -button in the component listing -view. This button can be found from the actions of the whole list. Clicking the "Add component" -button opens a dropdown -selection where you can choose which component to add. Components are described more in depth in the section "Components".

Existing components can be managed from their action buttons. Participation spaces have the following action buttons:

  • Manage - This button allows you to manage the participation space's component. Different components have different actions depending on the type of the component. Provided that the component have their own manageable content, this button opens their listing -view, where the content has its own actions.
  • Publish - This button publishes the component, which means the participants can see the component's tab on the website. The "publish" -button is only shown if the component is published yet.
  • Unpublish - This button ends the publishment of the component, which means the participants cannot see the tab on the website anymore. The "unpublish" -button is only shown if the component is published.
  • Settings - This button allows the management of the basic settings of the component, and possibilities or inhibitions during certain phases.
  • Permissions - This button allows the management of the component's permissions. Component specific permissions are meant to limit the participation of the component and only allow it for users who have authenticated themselves in a specific way. For example only the citizens of a certain area can participate on the specific area's component. To work, this action requires a strong authentication from the users.
  • Share - This button allows private sharing of the participation space's component before publishing. This action is useful for example to go through the component with the organization's users who you share the link with.
  • Delete - This button deletes the participation space's component. You should keep in mind that the system does not ask for a confirmation after clicking the button, which is why you have to be careful when using this action! Then again the majority of the components do not allow the deletion of the component if it contains content.

Each component have the following mutual information fields, which need to be defined:

  • Name - Every component has to have a name. This is shown to the participants as a participation space's tab name. The name has to be relatively short, because it is shown in the navigation bar of the participation space.
  • Order position - This defines the position of the component in the participation space's navigation bar. The smaller the value, the earlier, and the bigger the value, the later it is shown in the navigation bar.

All the other fields are specific for each component. Each component can have its own typical settings, which are described more in depth in the section relative to the component.

If the participation space is Process, can each component have phase specific settings, which are listed for each phase separately in the section "Step settings". There you can manage what possibilities or inhibitions the component has for each phase. These settings are component specific, so each component can have their own possibilities and inhibitions.

Phases also have so called "Global settings", which are used if these settings are not overwritten in the phase specific settings. Global settings set basic settings for each phase, which are used if a certain phase does not define different values to them or a phase setting does not conflict with a global setting. The following global settings are mutual for all components:

  • Announcement - Announcement regarding a component, which is shown on the page of the component.

Phase settings are mainly exactly the same as the component's "Global settings", but phase settings always get the highest priority. For example if an "Announcement" is defined to a specific phase, this announcement is shown instead of the announcement defined in the "Global settings". Phase settings are valid when the specific phase is set as active. You can read more about phases and activating them in the section "Management of process phases".
